Going Out Sans Husband

My mom has been taking interest in the Casey Anthony murder trial as of late; especially the jury selection. She has told me in the last few days what sorry excuses people come up with for getting out of jury duty. One of these excuses being that one women, who had been married to her husband for over 40 years, could not serve because she had never been without him for an extended period of time and she just couldn’t leave him. My mother, a single mom for the past 17 years, found this ridiculous.

Frankly, it made me think of the Real Housewives of Orange County’s Alexis Bellino. Seriously. Last season on the Real Housewives of Orange County, we met a new housewife, Alexis Bellino and her husband, Jim. Our first look at their relationship was when another housewife had planned a “girls weekend” in Florida. What ended up happening was that Jim forbade Alexis (that’s how I saw it, anyway) to go to Florida without him. Jim stated that since they’d been married, they had never spent a day without each other. When it was all said and done, Jim had talked all of the other husbands into going on the girls weekend, leaving the housewife that planned the trip without partner as her husband refused to be talked into going by Jim because he didn’t want to ruin girls weekend. “No husbands allowed!”

On one of the recent episodes of the Real Housewives of Orange County, a dinner party was planned for the wives and their husbands. Jim didn’t come with Alexis, which she later explained was because of the fact that he didn’t want to spend time with the other couples that were attending. Well, Alexis got so freaked out by Jim not being with her that she spent the majority of the night sobbing in the bathroom. By the way Alexis, I wish I had half the “cry face” that you do!

Readers, do you feel that it is healthy to be so overwhelmed to go out (even to a dinner party) without your significant other?
